Yvonne was born in Wyong, New South Wales, and grew up on
Sydney's North Shore. It was not until 1975 that she started
to paint, studying at the Shilletto Design School. It was
at this time that Yvonne experimented with texture and design
which is one of the main features of her work today. Following
the design course she attended classes with artist John
Ogburn, concentrating on painting with oils.
At the Julian Ashton School of Art, she studied drawing
techniques.
Over the years, Yvonne has developed a unique style of artwork
which is mostly inspired by mosaic design. Some of her works
have the look of tapestry while others convey the impression
of lead light. Bold colours are of great importance and,
along with a textured appearance, she tries to achieve a
three dimensional effect.
Since moving to Montville
in November 2002, Yvonne's work has become quite abstract
with more freedom and colour which will always be part of
her art. Work can be viewed at GALLERY BENEATH, Sirocco
Plaza, The esplanade, Mooloolaba, Queensland.
Yvonne's work has been exhibited
in many art shows in Sydney, Queensland and on Norfolk Island,
where she lived and managed her own art studio for many
years.
A number of her paintings have been featured on cards and
postcards which have been selling on Norfolk Island and
in Australia.
